Motes and Oats is a duo known for powerful harmonies and feel good songs. Their songs are co-written and guitar driven, with a sprinkling of dreamy flute melodies that intersect to create a style influenced by folk, country, rock and jazz but arrive at something all their own. Motes and Oats have played across Canada including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. Their song "Saskatchewan" from their debut album Simple Things won Best Folk Award in the BC based Kootenay Music Awards. In 2016 this married couple had a daughter and took a hiatus to spend time with family and write. With a move to Ontario and an armful of new perspectives, Motes and Oats returned to the stage in 2022 with an arsenal of new songs.
