Introducing Stand Up Bassist Rob Fahie

Rob played with us at Drift in February and will be playing with us again at the Dam Inn and Silver City Days.  He really adds a new dimension to our music and we are so glad that he moved to the Kootenays. Check out the bio the Ellison's Market Acoustic Session folks published on Rob.

"Rob Fahie hails from the suburbs of Ottawa where, during his formative years, he picked up the electric and acoustic bass. He studied at both McGill University and the University of Colorado playing in groups ranging from electric jazz quintets to symphony orchestras.

After touring with Toronto jazz singer Sophie Milman, he spent six years as bassist and musical director for Nikki Yanofsky. With Nikki, he toured extensively throughout the world, playing at many international jazz festivals and in some of the world’s premiere concert venues, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Olympia in Paris.

Equally at home playing and singing folk and bluegrass, he recently performed on The Bravest Birds, the latest album from Montreal singer-songwriter Rob Lutes. He has also shared the stage with PEI’s Rose Cousins and Winnipeg’s Juno-Award-winning trio, the Wailin’ Jennys.

Rob recently moved to Nelson and has already become a familiar sight on stages throughout the Kootenays with Clint Swanson, Paul Landsberg, Von Butcher, Motes & Oats and many others. ☼♫"
